Breckwell Pellet
.Pellet Stove Problem?
I have a Breckwell Pellet Sotve . Last night the flame got very big and then burned down to nothing .After a moment there was a explosion that was strong enought to blow smoke though the front door gaskets. Any one ever had this happen?
Hello Penne. From your description, it sounds as though something has blocked the exhaust. That would explain the flame dying down first as the pressure built up and then the explosion. Easiest way to check is open the front of the stove ( when cold), take off the side brick panel (usually on the right as you are looking at it) and you will see the main vent where the heat goes out of the firebox. That also leads to the exhaust stack. Stick the flexible tube of a shopvac up the cavity and set it blow outwards. Have someone else watch outside and see if anything blows out of the stack. If not, start taking the exhaust apart till you find the blockage. I know with my system, I need to disassemble the stack once a year and use the shopvac to suck out the build up of ashes, especially in the horizontal parts. Good luck and I hope this helps you.
