Why does my floor have a hotspot?
I live on a first floor apartment. There is a spot in my dinning area floor that always feels warm. Is that normal?
Some apartments use a boiler system for heat and/or hot water. If they laid the original plumbing pipes to shallow you could be feeling the heat transferring from the pipes through the concrete floor. This can happen even if you have your own water heater.
There may also be a leak in a hot water line under the floor. This makes the heated area even larger. Either way the maintenance dept would probably like to know about it; if they don’t already.
