Fender Hot Rod Deluxe Clean Channel Issues?
When I turn up my fender hot rod deluxe the sound seems to get more ruffled and distorted even though it is on the clean channel. Im new to tube amplifiers so I was just wondering what could be going wrong. Im thinking one of the issues might be the crappy guitar cable im using right now. Please help
Josh, make sure you are plugging into Input 1, and that you do not have either of the drive channels engaged. By their very nature, tube amplifiers will distort at higher volumes, so you may be approaching the threshold with this 40-watt amplifier. It is also possible that you have a defective tube, which unlike solid-state electronics, can impart all sorts of extraneous noise before dying completely! If this is a brand-new amplifier, and you are still unhappy with the resulting tone after ensuring your tubes are good, Fender has an excellent warranty for guitars and amplifiers; just contact your local service center, and they will make the necessary adjustments or repairs at no cost to you. Even if not under warranty, the repairs would not be expensive for this type of problem. Best regards, Dana
