Glasses Party
Do you consider it tacky when you go to a party and they use paper plates?
I have about 50 glass party plates and I am thinking about getting rid of them. The last two cocktail parties we have used paper. I do not like having to spend so much time cleaning the plates. Everyone is always in the kitchen anyway and I want to enjoy my friends, not do dishes. I have a very proper mother and she would have never thrown a party with paper plates. What are your thoughts on this?
Well… that really depends on the party! Pros and cons of paper plates: paper plates provide the convenience of an easy clean- up while glass does not. If it was a family party that you were really comfortable and familiar with, I wouldn’t mind using paper! They are inexpensive too! On the other hand, they don’t look all that nice. Try putting out an extra buck or two if you wanted a touch of formality using one with designs. Glass party plates add a hint of extravagance to any party. If you are trying to impress a crowd, throwing a housewarming party, or something like a baby shower, than I would use glass. Also, glass is more sophisticated than paper… even looking at a person holding a glass party plate looks better than paper! Glass plates also make your food look nicer… it’s all about the presentation for food. Unfortunately, you have to spend some time cleaning the plates, which I don’t like to do either. but for that crowd of people that you want to impress- stick with glass. So, if you wanted to throw a cocktail party, that would depend on the formality! Paper- more informal, and glass- more formal. I would keep the glass plates if i were you! They would probably come in handy later, too!
