Leaf Weed
Can spray Broad leaf weeds and kill them in August just as easily as in April or May?
why do many say you need to do it in middle or late spring? why not wait until late summer or middle summer? when it is closer to autumn before seeding grass? as this will keep your lawn from looking awful all summer if have a lot of weeds?
or do most landscapers spray broad leaf weeds in Spring and in Summer or up till when can do this and how difficult to kill them in summer? and why?
OK.,,TO FIRST ANSWERER..WHEN ARE WEEDS USUALLY “ACTIVELY GROWING”? AND WHY THIS ISNT INCLUDING AUGUST? WHEN STOP “ACTIVELY GROWING”? AND DOES THIS INCLUDE ALL OF THEM? (HENBIT, CLOVER, DANDELIONS, CHICKWEED, ETC?)
WHICH TEMPERATURES ARE NEEDED TO HAVE IN SPRING TO FINALLY BE ABLE TO PUT DOWN WEED AND FEED? AND WHY THIS IS NEEDED? WHAT IF DO IT TOO EARLY IN FIRST OF SPRING?
Broadleaf weed killer works best on NEW growth. New growth of course happens when a plant is actively growing, hence the mfgr’s. instruction.
Spring growth is usually the most intense with the greatest percentage of ‘new’ exposed, and is the BEST time to use weed killer.
However weed killer WILL be effective any time weeds are gowing. If you are mowing your grass in August, the weeds are growing also and weed killer will be effective..
